To make a DIY candle, you will need:

Wax: You can use either paraffin wax, soy wax, beeswax, or a blend of waxes.
Wicks: You can purchase pre-waxed wicks that have a metal base to keep them upright.
A heat source: You can use a double boiler, or create one by placing a metal bowl over a pot of boiling water.

A pouring pot: This is a metal container that you pour the melted wax into.
Fragrance oils or essential oils (optional)
Dye blocks or liquid dyes (optional)
A thermometer

Instructions:

Melt the wax using a double boiler or create one by placing a metal bowl over a pot of boiling water.
Once the wax has melted, add fragrance oils or essential oils and dyes (if desired) and stir well.
Using a thermometer, let the wax cool to about 130°F (54°C).
Dip the wick into the wax, then center it in the jar or container you’re using for the candle.
Pour the melted wax into the container, being careful not to disturb the wick.
Allow the candle to cool and solidify completely, which may take several hours.
Once the candle has solidified, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) above the wax.
Light and enjoy your homemade candle!
